Metalco has expanded on its vast experience in the metal recovery and recycling sector through the setting up of a waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) recovery and recycling facility. The ultimate aim of metalco is to divert WEEE from unsustainable disposal routes such as landfill and recover and recycle the maximum potential from such waste. Through it's permitted WEEE management facility situated in luqa the following WEEE can be accepted:

1. Temperature Exchange Equipment

   • Equipment that cools or heats using temperature-changing substances.
     Examples: Fridges, freezers, air conditioners, heat pumps.​

2. Screens & Monitors​

   • Devices with screens larger than 100 cm².
     Examples: TVs, computer monitors, laptops, tablets.​

3. Lamps​

   • Lighting equipment of all types.
     Examples: LED lamps, fluorescent tubes, CFLs.​

4. Large Equipment​

   • Electrical equipment larger than 50 cm that does not fall under categories 1–3.
     Examples: Washing machines, dishwashers, large printers, industrial tools.​

5. Small Equipment

   • Electrical items smaller than 50 cm (not including IT or telecom devices).
     Examples: Toasters, kettles, hairdryers, small drills and tools.​

6. Small IT & Telecommunication Equipment

   • Small devices under 50 cm used for processing, storing, or sending information.
     Examples: Mobile phones, routers, keyboards, small desktop printers.​
